Dagger with Sheath

Dagger with Sheath

Ötzi had a dagger to defend himself with. When he died he was probably holding it in his right hand, because his hand appeared to be clasped around something!

The Iceman’s dagger wasn’t very big. It consisted of a wooden handle and a flint blade (the sharp-edged stone from which weapons were made during the Stone Age).

Dagger with Sheath

The dagger came with a sheath made of woven linden bast. Fibres can be obtained from the inner bark of the tree which can be woven into rope, nets, or other objects like this sheath.
